Nearly happened to me... they asked for my address, recipient name and phone number. I was all set to go get the cash but I felt something VERY fishy:

Hey Alex,.. I'm guessing you haven't received your One X yet,.. but when you do.. you should pretty much checkout XDA-DEVELOPERS.COM for some details. HTC tends to let people unlock the bootloader but that just lets you "root" it.. you unlock the bootloader, then root it, then you can install whatever you want. It's somewhat like an on/off valve for a water hose with a nozzle.. you can turn on the water or turn it off.. but water won't come out until you pull the trigger at the nozzle.. you unlock the bootloader, THEN root.. then you can install whatever you want onto the phone.. let me know when you have your phone!!

I have an issue, I have an HTC Evo 3d X515m GSM....I am trying to properly root my phone, but there is no information online to root a gsm Evo 3d, they only have rooting for the sprint Evo 3d. I am also inspired by your forum, to root my phone, but I am scared I might mess it up...because i recently bought it unlocked for a hefty price.

Hi again! My one One X should arrive this week or the one after that. My 3GS is really on it's last leg right now, but I still love it, it has served me well.

I hate SENSE sense I don't like the overall look of it, the clock, lock screen, multitasking, it just looks like it is over-designed.. or something.. I love the look of ICS on the Nexus because it is so clean and cold. Tough I am happy that HTC has decided, not to change the OS so much as they usually would have done.

Did not know that a 'clean' android OS was called vanilla android, thx for that one! This will make searching for useful information soooo much easier :p But was surpriced not to find any info on wiki about it.

Just read about HTC letting people unlock their bootloaders, with a dev pack..ish.. thing.. Anyway, what does this really mean? That I will have an easier time rooting the device? That I wont risk bricking it?

I did manage to jailbreak my 3GS once, but I experienced some increased sluggishness of the phone, and didn't really feel the need for the jailbreak, so I restored it to it's original limits. But it was fun trying it out!

Hey Alex.. glad to see you like my name :)... as far as the new phones coming out, ya I'd definitely stick with waiting a littler longer for that One X.. seems to be the successor of the Evo4G/3D phones. As far as sense, what part do you not like about it? The overall feel? the clock, the lock screen.. etc.. I mean.. if its a complete blanket dislike for SENSE, then you're always able to root it and flash a vanilla android onto it. Most likely, there'll be an ICS version w/o sense over on xda-developers.com. It's a great site to checkout if you haven't already. As far as jb'ing it.. HTC has somewhat leaned over to the "letting people unlock their bootloaders" mentality so it shouldn't be too long once the phone is out that there's a viable ROM for it w/o sense.. hope that answers your questions, feel free to toss me more through here..

I don't have a lot of time, sense I need do decide really soon, so I will just ask here. I'm jumping ship from Iphone 3gs to Android. I was going for the Galaxy Nexus because it has no overlay. But now that HTC is rolling out it's One X, I feel this is a much better option. It's just that I hate HTC SENSE, I want to nuke it from orbit. SO what I want to ask you is if you think it will be possible to root the HTC One X, or if I should go with the safe Galaxy Nexus.

This might seem like a no brainer for you smart people. But no, no, not for me. Just see what phone I choose to be my fist smartphone. I bit the apple, but it just tasted sour. Sure, somehow I managed to jailbreak it, but it still tasted foul. Now I'm on my way in to a world with green robots everywhere, and I don't speak their language.

Oh and I love your name! Seriously awesome. Now I'm thinking about naming my (future) kid that!

I responded to a Craigslist ad for 49er tickets similar to the ones below - 4 tickets for $150 each and received an email back saying the person was in London -blah blah blah and that they were using Stubhub as the "broker" and received a pretty authentic looking invoice with Stubhub FanProtect verbage in it, etc, etc, asking to wire via Western Union to a "Stubhub Agent" (see below)
